Study of the First Leaders and the Leaders of the Vanguard Group Two Under the Motto "My Vanguard at the Top"
The study of the first leaders and the leaders of the Vanguard group two launched under the motto "My Vanguard at the Top" at the headquarters of the Qatar Scouts and Guides Association from October 11 to 12, 2024.
Objectives of the Study:
This study aims to:
- Qualify the leaders of the youth groups.
- Equip the group leaders with knowledge, skills, and practical applications in managing the group.
- Train the leaders on how to manage the group and distribute roles among its members.
- Encourage group leaders to select engaging scouting programs and train them in leadership and followership.
Program Content:
The study included various training activities, such as:
- Training on scouting traditions.
- Saluting and raising the flag, folding, and displaying it.
- Scout calls and cheers.
- Using the whistle in gatherings.
- Practical applications of knots and lashings.
- Applications for campfire ceremonies and community service.
Context:
This study is part of the Qatar Scouts and Guides Association’s plan to train natural leaders from the youth stage, aiming to prepare a new generation of young leaders capable of transferring leadership experiences across different scouting levels within the registered scout teams.
Activities:
The study comprised several educational and awareness lectures, along with practical applications of scouting skills. It aims to deepen the sense of national identity and belonging to the homeland, instill organized teamwork skills, patience, self-reliance, and expand social relationships.
Participation:
According to the gathering leader, Hamad Yusuf Al-Omari, the study involved 50 scouts from 10 public and private schools, with five scouts from each school. During the two days, students were trained on scouting skills, rope techniques, and the specific movements required in scouting. The leaders were also trained in formation skills, communication, secret signs, and campfire organization, along with administrative arrangements through familiarization with scouting and social records.
Trainers:
The scouting skills were taught by trainers including: Yaqub Al-Tamimi, Ghanem Al-Kuwari, Hazem Najy, Ahmed Al-Yousef, and Khalid Al-Hetmi.
