A traditional celebration of the Garangao night in Souq Waqif with the participation of Qatari scouts
In an atmosphere filled with happiness and joy, crowds of children celebrated the most beautiful traditional night in the traditional Souq Waqif square, the “Garangao” night.National music with authentic Qatari folk music, which contributed to the joy and happiness of citizens and residents. The children chanted the traditional song known for this nightin Qatar and most of the Arab Gulf countries. The children went out in their best suits, wearing bright traditional scout clothes, and they usually wear new dresses, and they put on their heads the “qahfiya”, which is an embroidered cap worn by boys in the Gulf.
A number of citizens said that the participation of Qatari scouts in celebrating this night reflects their keenness to revive those traditions and shows the extent of their awareness to instill the heritage in the hearts of young children in a different atmosphere.The event in Souq Waqif participants was Al-Qadisiyah Model School, Al-Noor Language School, Royal International School, Brighton International Academy, and Harvard American School. The event was supervised by Commander Sarah Ibrahim Al-Sultan and Commander Hizam Naji.
