Qatari Scout Delegation Departed for European Jamboree in Spain (JAMSCOUT 2024)
On the morning of Saturday, July 13, 2024, the Qatari scout delegation from the Qatar Scouts and Guides Association departed to participate in the European Jamboree in Spain (JAMSCOUT 2024). This major camp, which is the largest of its kind in Spain, will be held in the Covadonga region (Soria) from July 13 to 21, 2024. The Qatar Scouts and Guides Association is represented by a delegation of 20 scouts and leaders, including 4 scout leaders.
Mr. Jassim Mohammed Al-Hardan, the Chief Commissioner of the Qatar Scouts and Guides Association, emphasized the significance of Qatari participation in this European event. He noted that the jamboree contributes to building bridges of communication among youth and helps to embody the scouting principles that support active citizenship, youth development, and the fostering of positive attitudes.
The Chief Commissioner stated that this participation is guided by the generous support of Dr. Ibrahim Bin Saleh Al-Naimi, Chairman of the Board of the Qatar Scouts and Guides Association, who spares no effort in supporting Qatari scouts to elevate Qatar’s name in various Arab and international events. This participation reflects the Qatar Scouts and Guides Association’s commitment to being present at global events and to raising the Qatari flag high among nearly 19 countries and regions worldwide, with around 8,000 participants.
The event presents an opportunity to showcase Qatar’s culture, heritage, and achievements, as well as its tourism assets through an exhibition set up by the delegation at the camp. It also aims to enhance the physical and mental abilities of the scouts, facilitate the exchange of experiences among scouts from around the world, fulfill the scouts' desire for adventure, provide opportunities for teamwork, leadership, and self-reliance, and deepen the understanding of scouting’s meanings and significance. Additionally, it opens up broad avenues for cultural understanding and the acquisition of new skills and experiences.
