80 Cubs at the First Gathering for Cubs in Qatar Schools
The Qatar Scouts and Guides Association organized the first gathering for Cubs from Qatar Foundation schools for the second, third, and fourth grades at Sidra Academy, with the participation of 80 Cubs from four different teams.
The gathering aims to equip the Cubs with scouting and life skills, fostering their sense of duty towards God, their country, and the community, while also nurturing their love for the Scout movement.
Leader Ghanem Abdul Rahman Al-Kuwari, the supervisor of the gathering, stated that this stage is the foundation of the Scout movement, and the association aims to prepare them educationally to enhance their mental, spiritual, social, and physical aspects, helping them grow into responsible and distinguished citizens.
The Scout movement features age-appropriate curricula that are translated into engaging and effective programs that meet the Cubs' needs and strengthen their belonging to the movement.
The Scouts utilize various means, including progress and hobby badges, to help discover, refine, and direct talents, enabling Scouts to be active contributors to their communities and beneficial to themselves and their nation.
The Cubs actively participated in training sessions and practical workshops led by distinguished Scout leaders and participating organizations.
The gathering included several scouting workshops, such as the Qatar Roots Station, Environmental Makers Station, Scouting Traditions Station, and Fitness Champions Station. The Cubs were trained in scouting concepts like the promise and law, performing the Scout salute, understanding types of fires, knots and bindings, and developing skills for implementing pioneering projects. They also learned traditional scouting practices, including raising and lowering the flag, along with its symbolism, history, and importance as a national emblem.
The gathering was overseen by Leader Ghanem Al-Kuwari and Leader Hamad Al-Omari, along with participation from leaders of the involved schools. The participating teams included Cubs from Tariq ibn Ziyad, Musheireb, Sidra, and Al-Wakra.
