Training camp for guides under the slogan Sustainability and World Remembrance Day
The Qatar Scouts and Guides Association organized a training camp for guides under the slogan "Sustainability and World Remembrance Day," with the participation of 180 guides and leaders representing 10 scouting teams from foreign communities. The camp was hosted by Ideal Indian School.
The camp aimed to provide various training workshops that achieve sustainability in all fields, activities, and programs environmentally, agriculturally, and industrially. The camp was divided into training workshops alongside recreational activities for children and areas of endurance for guides. In addition, there were cultural, sports, and public service programs through which participants gained many scouting insights in both theoretical and practical aspects of camping, wilderness life, cooking, and innovation in leadership activities. One of the main training focuses was on understanding the customs, traditions, and popular arts of the participating teams, emphasizing the concept of global peace that fosters connections between peoples.
The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Civil Defense, participated in these training workshops, providing awareness on firefighting and public safety. Guides were familiarized with fire extinguishers, their uses according to the type and causes of fires, and how to use them correctly in case of a fire, including contacting the emergency number (999) for assistance. They also received a set of tips and guidance on fire prevention.
The organization of this camp, which starts its activities tomorrow, coincides with the global celebrations commemorating the centenary of the scouting movement this year, 2007, under the slogan "One World, One Promise."
This camp aims to foster connections and communication between peoples, develop a spirit of brotherhood and friendship, and consolidate efforts to celebrate the centenary of the scouting movement in a manner that reflects the role of scouting in serving and developing society.
Leader Mona Al Mansouri stated that this camp is a great opportunity for guides and supporters of the scouting movement at the local level to celebrate the centenary of the scouting movement, representing all members of the scouting movement, including girls, leaders, former scouts, and parents.
She added that the association aims during this year to link all its activities and events to the centenary of the scouting movement, considering the role that scouting plays in the personal development of girls. Furthermore, the camp includes various activities and events to introduce scouting and its leadership role in volunteer work, organizing heritage art exhibitions for each participating community, in addition to customary scouting activities and leadership traditions.
Participants celebrate with a festive event expressing their joy and happiness in joining the scouting movement, standing in solidarity with their brothers and sisters worldwide for peace and a decent life. The program includes several skill workshops and entertainment programs.
Supervisors of this camp include Leader Mona Al Mansouri, Leader Sarah Al Sultan, volunteer Polar, School Leader Taba, and School Leader Suman.
The participating schools in the camp from the scouting teams include Ideal Host School, Filipino School, Indian Peace School, Bangladesh School, Sri Lankan School, M.I.S. School, T.N.G. School, Nobel School, Enlightened Future School, and Popular Pearls School.
